Haverut in the Hospital and Medical Center
Holistic Care for Patients and their Families
The medical center is a microcosm through which all of Israel’s citizens pass. It is a rare space in which it is possible to act not just to heal the individual, but to help heal society as a whole, through the engagement with and human contact between each and every one.
How? Through a real and honest face to face encounter with all that life sends our way, including death and weakness, vulnerability and pain.
The patients and their families, as well as the nursing, medical, and administrative staff, all need a hand; all benefit from a quiet place to rest the soul.
Connecting the language of the spirit with the medical and treatment system
Haverut believes that attention to the spirit and the soul of the patient should be an integral part of the organizational culture of treatment within the medical system.
Activities
Haverut works with the full cooperation of the medical and administrative staff of hospitals to incorporate spiritual language into the medical setting in an accessible way. This language is universal, rather than associated with a particular religion or sector, and vital for any person in a process of healing from or coming to terms with a chronic illness, vulnerability, and death.
Haverut is active in the following hospitals: Hadassah Ein Karem, Hadassah Mt. Scopus, Herzog, Tel HaShomer Sheba, Shamir (Asaf Harofeh), and Ziv.
Spiritual Care
Haverut’s spiritual caregivers help patients, families, and care providers connect to sources of inner strength, purpose, and meaning, and the forces of renewal through the use of spiritual resources.
Niggun Haverut
The musicians of Haverut connect with patients and their families through music and song.
