My parents lived in an isolated clay house by the stream, which was surrounded by an orchard. I feared enclosed spaces and often had to sleep in shelters.
Today, my home is in Dafna, where two of three children live. I know we hold the country’s border. I love this place, with its garden and people.
Dafna was my whole world. Children’s houses included classrooms, dining halls, bedrooms, and courtyards. Lights could not be used at night due to sniper fire; only the bathrooms had light.
On birthdays, we could request to sleep at home, but I preferred the children’s house.
I feel good at the hotel with friends from other kibbutzim. The staff is wonderful and responsive. I want to return to my own corner, to normal life, while enjoying the blossoming communal life here. I hope the daily routine is restored.
I love my home, Dafna—the place and the people. Since my two children live here, I love this home as my family. From birth, I am Dafna, and Dafna is me.
